Portraits of the Finland Arbitration Institute's international board, shot in one evening in a banquet hall at Restaurant Palace before the board's gala dinner.
The Finland Arbitration Institute needed portraits of its international board for a new website. About fifteen people, all in one evening, in a banquet hall at Restaurant Palace, before the board’s gala dinner at seven.
The job was to make them look like one set, not fifteen separate pictures. I brought flashes, softboxes and stands, built one fixed shooting point and got there an hour and a half early to test it. Same light, same background, same framing and tone for everyone.
People came in pairs, every fifteen minutes. I shot tethered to a laptop, so each person could see their picture on the screen as soon as I took it. FAI had sent the board a sign-up sheet for the slots, and a few people ended up shooting in the queue just before dinner, which is what you expect at an event like this.
